The Canterbury University College pipe band on capping day. The band marches from Cathedral square down Worcester street whilst Gordon Ogilvie ( far right) keeps time. He was later Band master for St Andrews college, 1969-93.

Papier Mache RNZAF Skypork

1 May 1981

University of Christchurch student, Damien Martin, piloting a papier mache aircraft on the back of a truck called the RNZAF Skypork at the head of the capping procession on Cashel Street heading towards the central city.

Capping procession through central Christchurch

Students participating in the capping procession on Oxford Terrace including a Bambina car with a student dressed as a fairy waving through the sun roof and a group of students piled on the back of a truck.
